Mike McCrae, a beloved community man, passed away on March 15, 2024, at Drayton Valley Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Mike's dedication and passion for his work were truly remarkable, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His oilfield career as a Mud Man took him to various locations worldwide where he showcased his skills and expertise in the oilfield industry. He was dedicated to his Maidpro housecleaning business which he owned and operated for sixteen years, later expanding to window and blind cleaning.
Aside from his professional achievements, Mike was a man of many talents and interests. He furthered his education and became a Licensed Funeral Director and Certified Death Doula. In his leisure time, Mike loved the open road on his Goldwing, was an avid reader, and had a penchant for elaborate Christmas decorations adorning his house. His adventurous spirit extended to being a foodie who enjoyed experimenting with various culinary delights. Mike's warm and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving partner, Colleen Sekura, his faithful canine companion, Marley, and children, Michael (Carmen), Matthew (Tasha), and Crystal (Josh) Pettinger. He will be missed by his brother, James (Darlene) and sister Linda (Reg) Tame, sister-in-laws, Becky & Hanna, and the mother of his children, Kayleen. Also left to mourn his loss are his grandchildren, Taras, Jeremiah, Dominic, Aubrey, Madelyn, and Landon, numerous nieces and nephews, and a plethora of good friends.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Eddy, and siblings Terry, Clark, and Karen.
Visitation to honor and remember Mike will be held at Drayton Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services in Drayton Valley on March 21st from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Whitby Community Hall on March 22nd at 1:00 PM. Pastor Brent Farquar officiating. Interment to follow at Rocky Rapids Cemetery.
In Mike's memory, he leaves a legacy of hard work, love for life's simple pleasures, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many and will always be fondly remembered.
