Lanny Chernipeski, a cherished soul born on March 6, 1949, in the quaint town of Watson, Saskatchewan, departed this world on November 7, 2024, at the Drayton Valley Hospital with his family by his side.. His journey, rich with memories and marked by love, has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who were touched by his spirit. For many years, Lanny devoted his skillful hands and astute mind to the role of a drilling consultant on the rigs, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Yet, beyond the rigors of professional life, it was his heart that truly defined him. He built a loving life with his partner, Louise Allchurch, grounding their relationship with unwavering affection and companionship. Together they navigated the intricacies of life, sharing laughter, dreams, and quiet moments of comfort.
Lanny was a proud father to his daughter Tera-Lynn and son Sean Michael, both of whom carry forward his legacy in their own unique ways. As a grandfather, his heart swelled with joy and pride for his grandchildren: Caleb, Ryder, and Brooks. To them, he was not merely a grandparent but a source of inspiration, yarns of wisdom, and tender love that will echo in their hearts forever. Lanny valued his long and “philosophical” telephone conversations with Cousin Elaine and Russell.
From the woodlands that cradled his home, Lanny embraced nature with open arms. He delighted in the simplicity of life’s pleasures; his generosity extended to feeding the deer that visited his yard, a symbol of his kindness and gentle spirit. Holidays were a cherished affair, particularly Christmas, when Lanny would indulge in large portions of Lefse, the traditional Norwegian flatbread that was as much a part of his heritage as the smile on his face when sharing it with loved ones. He had a sweet tooth that endeared him to many, drawing friends and family together over treats that sweetened the moments they spent together. Television sports captivated him—moments spent rooting for competitors in golf, tennis and curling were sacred. An avid fan of old western movies and country music, Lanny always found a way to connect the past with the present, weaving tales of yesteryears into conversations filled with laughter. Lanny’s steadfast commitment to staying informed meant that he faithfully consumed the news, engaging with the world around him with eyes wide open, ever-curious. He approached life with a balance—a keen interest in farming and making hay spoke to his love for the land, the earth beneath his feet, and the bountiful skies above.
In his final days, surrounded by love and the beauty of a life well-lived, Lanny passed from this earthly realm, leaving behind the essence of who he was: a father, a partner, a friend, who brought joy to those near him. Friends and family are invited to honor Lanny's life and legacy in a "Come & Go Memorial Celebration" on November 23, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Drayton Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services, located at 5029-48th Street, Drayton Valley, AB, T7A 1E1. Together, they will celebrate the colors of a life painted with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
