It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Barton announces his passing at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre on January 5, 2023, at the age of 80 years.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sally, and their children, Vicki Barton, Michael (Pam) Barton, and Kim (Henry) Kiemele; grandchildren, Davis and Riley Barton, Ava and Ella Kiemele; brother, Bill Langenfurth, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Perina Barton, his brothers Dennis Barton and Ron Barton, his sister Jane Rusk, his nephews Brad Rusk and Cameron Rusk.
Jerry enjoyed spending time in his garden, blueberry picking and hunting for mushrooms. He had a heart of gold and was often discovered helping a neighbor or someone in need.
His greatest joy though was his family and friends, whether he was cooking them Polish spaghetti, dancing the night away, playing jokes or working on a puzzle together. His happy place was the cabin that he built with his brother Dennis – a place that family and friends could all be together laughing and enjoying life.
Jerry’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Drayton Valley Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to join a Come and Go Celebration of Jerry’s life to take place Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory can be made to Cause for Critters, 5517- 53 Ave, Drayton Valley, AB. or a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements in care of Colleen Sekura and Melanie Dyment at: 587 673-1688.
