It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Guy Collins of Drayton Valley, Alberta. He passed away peacefully on October 21st at Drayton Valley Hospital at the age of 71 from organ failure.
Guy was born in Bonnyville, Alberta, to parents Clayton and Mabel Collins. He spent his early years farming with his family in Vegreville, Alberta, and then moved to Edmonton to work in the pipeline industry.
He married his lifetime partner of 50 years Val and had two children. He spent the next 30 years in the concrete industry, truck driving, and logging. He finished his career at Lincoln County Oilfield for his last 18 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors. He loved his sports, (most especially the Calgary Flames and Stampeders), racing his car, his Doberman Jake and many cats. Many will remember him for his unique sense of humour. With his power and unwavering patience, he handled the hard stuff well. You wanted him on your team, and there are many teams out there who will feel his absence.
He is survived by his wife Val and his children Angela and Ryan, his grandchildren Keanu and Rylan, his mother Mabel and his sister Leslie, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his father Clayton (1987) and his two brothers, Danny (Anita) (2021) and Randy (2024).
Guy’s memorial will be held at Drayton Memorial Cremation and Funeral Services Sunday, November 3rd 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
